Course Outline:

Perfect for those who are just getting started or for those who want to get more out of the sport. The objective here is to properly introduce students to the world of fly fishing as it pertains to British Columbia so that the students will quickly learn the basics that are essential to becoming a successful fly fisher. We will be covering a wide range of topics such as proper tackle selection, trout physiology, physical and chemical characteristics of lakes and rivers as well as entomology coupled with proper fly selection. The course will be followed with an optional Sunday Fishout at a Merritt area lake. It should be emphasized that this is not a fly casting or fly tying course, although certain aspects of each will be touched on.

Scheduling and Requirements:

There will be handouts to compliment the lectures and the students should bring along pen and paper for note-keeping. Class size is limited to a maximum of fifteen. Students are expected to provide their own gear and transportation for the optional Fishout. We encourage students to drive up together and if transportation cannot be obtained, let us know and we will try to accommodate you.
